Here's how to access different thumbnails features while in a live room.
Here's what you can do with thumbnails in Evercast for Mac or Windows, version 3.0 and higher.
If you hover over a thumbnail, a downward arrow icon will appear.
Click the arrow to view settings for that participant. Any adjustments you make will only work for you, and do not change that setting for anyone else in the room.
Pin thumbnail
Keep the participant's video in the main window.
Turn off video
Turn off/on a participant's webcam video. Turning off thumbnail videos helps with your computer's performance, especially if there are many participants in the room. This setting only affects you and doesn't hide that participant for anyone else.
Turn off audio
Turn off/on a participant's microphone. This can be helpful if a participant has background noise. This setting only affects you and doesn't mute that participant for anyone else.
Mix audio
Adjust a participant's volume level in the room. This setting only affects you and doesn't change that person's volume for anyone else.
Output to DeckLink
Participants can output any thumbnail video to a Blackmagic hardware device or DeckLink card connected to their computer.
Mute for everyone (for room owner only)
Room owners can mute a participant so that no one else in the room can hear them. This can be useful when a participant has background noise.
Remove from room (for room owners only)
Room owners can use this option to remove a participant from a room.
To view a participant's network connectivity, hover over that participant's name in the top left of their thumbnail.
If you want the Network connectivity info panel to stay visible, you can click on the participant’s name to keep it from closing. Click again on the participant’s name to hide the panel.
Here's what you can do with thumbnails in Evercast desktop app version 2.x.
By default, the participant who is speaking appears in the main viewing area of the screen. When a stream is started, it automatically locks to the main viewing area.
To manually lock a different feed to your main viewing area, simply click on that thumbnail (whether it’s a person or a stream).
To return to the default (toggling among whoever is speaking), click the thumbnail again to unlock it from the main viewing area.
Hide the thumbnail bar by clicking the Layout button in the bottom toolbar and selecting Hide thumbnails. This helps with system processing, especially if there are many participants in the room. This also gives your screen more real estate.
Show the thumbnail bar by clicking the Layout button in the bottom toolbar and selecting Show thumbnails.
To detach the thumbnail bar from the app, click Layout in the bottom toolbar and select Detach thumbnails. Now you can move it where you want, including to a second monitor.
To attach the thumbnail bar back to its default position, click Layout in the bottom toolbar and select Attach thumbnails.
Click on the "three dots" button at the top right corner of a thumbnail to view more options for controlling a participant's settings. Any adjustments you make will only work for you and do not adjust that setting for the other participants.
