You use Stream only mode in Evercast for Mac or Windows to stream to a live room, without being a participant in that room. You won't see or hear any other participants, and they can only see or hear the stream. This is different from Conference mode, where you are a participant in the room (video conference).
For example, you'd use Stream only mode when there’s a need to stream a camera on set into an Evercast room where roles like the producer, colorist, editor, etc., can watch remotely. A technical person on set would be in charge of streaming the camera into the room, but that technical person doesn’t need to be in the room as a participant.
Stream only mode can be used as a replacement for EBS.
Here's how to do it.
-
In the Evercast for Mac or Windows app, open the dashboard. On the tile of the room you want to stream to, click the button with the three dots and select Stream only. The lobby opens in stream only mode.
-
You can also switch to stream only mode in the room lobby. Click on Settings and change the mode, then click Save.
When Stream only is selected, all other fields in the Settings window are grayed out.
-
Your lobby will now show that you're in stream only mode.
-
Click Enter room, then choose your streaming method from the bottom toolbar and begin your stream.
