You use the Stream URL feature in Evercast for Mac or Windows to stream video files hosted on a web server. Here's how to do it.
Note
This feature works with URLs that:
-
point to a media file that ends in a file type, such as .mp4 or .mov
For example https://www.example.com/mediafile.mp4
-
are public URLs (not password-protected)
-
are not hosted on file sharing sites (such as Dropbox) or streaming service sites (such as Netflix)
You use Conference mode when you want to both stream video and be a participant in the room (video conference).
-
On your web browser, locate the video URL that you want to stream.
-
In a live Evercast room, on the bottom toolbar, click the Stream button and then Stream URL.
-
A Settings window will appear. Paste the URL for your video file in the top box and adjust your settings as needed.
-
Click Start. The stream starts in the room and the Stream button turns red.
At the bottom of the video you will see controls to play, pause, go to the previous or next frame, and control the volume. You can also scrub forward and backward on the timeline.
-
When you’re ready to stop, click Stream and then Stop URL Stream.
You use Stream only mode to stream to a live room, without being a participant in that room. You won't see or hear any other participants, and they can only see or hear the stream.
-
On your web browser, locate the video URL that you want to stream.
-
On the tile of the room you want to stream to, click the button with the three dots and select Stream only.
Your lobby will now show that you're in stream only mode. Click Enter room.
-
On the bottom toolbar, click the URL button. Paste the URL for your video file in the top box and adjust your settings as needed. Then click Start.
-
The stream starts in the room and the URL button turns red.
At the bottom of the video you will see controls to play, pause, go to the previous or next frame, and control the volume. You can also scrub forward and backward on the timeline.
-
When you’re ready to stop, click the red URL button.
