Push-to-talk microphones are useful for avoiding feedback when streaming and conferencing simultaneously in an Evercast session. Your microphone will stay muted until you press and hold down a certain key on your keyboard; as soon as you stop pressing that key, the mic will mute again. Here's how to set it up.
-
From the room lobby, click on the Microphone box to show the microphone dropdown.
-
Make sure the correct microphone is selected from the list.
If push-to-talk hasn't been configured before, you will see it set to None.
Press the Reset button, then hold down the key you want to use for push-to-talk. That key will then show in the dropdown. For example, here we've selected the tab key:
You can change this key at any time by returning to the Microphone menu, pressing Reset and selecting a new key.
-
When you enter the room, you will see a notification that push-to-talk is enabled.
-
To configure push-to-talk from within an active room, hover over your name at the top right, and select Device settings from the menu.
-
In the Device settings window, you will see your current push-to-talk setting. Click Reset to change the key to something else.
Then click Save.
-
From the lobby, click the Settings button.
Or, from within an active room, find the More button on the bottom right and choose Device settings.
-
In the Device settings window, make sure the correct microphone is selected.
Then click the Push-to-talk dropdown and select which key you want to use.
-
You can verify that your microphone is working by talking into it and watching the Microphone level audio meter.
