We’ve heard you! We're always working to improve your experience on Evercast. Here’s a roundup of the latest changes.
Now you can share your work color-accurately, in real-time, to any professional display device with Blackmagic Design DeckLink SDI/HDMI output for the Evercast desktop app. Display video streams on digital cinema projectors, reference-grade monitors, and more. The DeckLink stream feature supports color bit depth in up to 10-bit 4:4:4.
Here's how it works
-
In a live room, in the toolbar at the bottom of the screen, click Stream, then select Stream DeckLink.
-
A pop-up window displays. Configure the settings, and click Start. The stream starts in the room. When you’re ready to stop streaming, click Stream again, and then Stop DeckLink stream.
Output to DeckLink
Participants in the room other than the streamer can now select to output any thumbnail to a Blackmagic hardware device or DeckLink card connected to their computer by selecting the Output to Decklink option on the thumbnail menu.
In the Output to DeckLink window, configure the settings and click Start.
The desktop app's stream feature has been enhanced with a new Stream button on the room's toolbar that you can directly access with one click. When you select the type of stream, such as Stream DeckLink, now the configuration options for that stream type appear in their own window instead of as tabs in one main window. Because of the new Stream button, the Screen share and Stream (beta) options have been removed from the room's More menu.
When a stream is started, the Stream button will turn red, and the menu item for the stream type will change to an option for stopping that stream.
Here's how it works
-
On the live room toolbar, click Stream. A menu appears with streaming options.
-
Select the type of stream. A window with the configuration options for that stream type appears. Click Start to start the stream.
-
To stop a stream, click the red Stream button, and select the menu option for stopping that stream.
We've given you more control over who you want to see on the thumbnails and in what position they show up in when using the desktop app. You now can view the detached thumbnail bar in three possible views, which allows for better focus on the faces of the people in the session:
Matrix view
Vertical view
Horizontal view
Here's how it works
After you detach the thumbnail bar (on a room's toolbar, select Layout, Detach thumbnails), click the icon on the top left of the window for the layout you want.
The thumbnail box can be expanded by dragging a corner to show more or fewer thumbnails in any position. For example, if the thumbnails start out in a vertical position and there are 20 participants in the room, you can drag the lower right corner and it will expand to include a second and third, fourth, etc., column with the maximum number of participant thumbnails that will fit.
-
We'll remember your last settings for device, file, and NDI® streams inside your room, so you can get streaming quickly every time.
-
Stream settings windows now show video previews and source settings for NDI®, Blackmagic, and device streams.
-
The toolbar buttons for Mic, Camera, and Audio are now clickable when they've been selected as None in Device settings. By clicking the button, Device settings opens so you can configure the devices.
To experience these features and more, make sure to update your Evercast app for Mac and Windows.
Happy streaming! Stay tuned until next time.
