Stream with Adobe Premiere Pro

You can stream directly from Adobe Premiere Pro to your room, using the EDI plugin and the Evercast desktop app version 3.6+. This feature is an alternative to streaming with NDI from Premiere. EDI allows local playback in Premiere, while simultaneously sending audio and video to Evercast. It supports HDR and 10-bit 4:4:4, can carry additional metadata like timecode and color space, and operates with near-zero (1 frame) latency.

Set up Premiere

  1. Download the EDI plugin from the Adobe Exchange website and install it in Adobe Premiere Pro.

  2. In Premiere Pro, open the video you want to stream.

  3. If you are using Premiere for Mac, go to the Premiere Pro menu > Settings > Playback. On Windows, go to the Edit menu and select Preferences > Playback. This will bring up your Preferences window, with the Playback tab on the left side pre-selected.

    Check the box next to Enable Mercury Transmit.

    Under Device Name, make sure EDI is selected for both video and audio.

  4. Under Primary Audio Device, do not select EDI. (Selecting EDI here will prevent the audio from playing locally on the streamer's machine.) Use another option like Adobe Desktop Audio.

  5. Click OK.

Activate Premiere streaming in Admin Portal

  1. Launch Evercast and navigate to Admin Portal. If your account doesn't have Admin Portal, contact your Account Manager or Evercast Support for assistance.

  2. Select Feature controls, then Defaults. In the list at right, turn on Premiere Pro.

    If you want to use this feature in some rooms and not in others, select the Room-specific checkbox.

Stream into Evercast

  1. Enter your Evercast room and hover over the Stream menu on bottom toolbar. Select Stream Premiere Pro.

  2. In the settings window, the app should auto-detect that you have Premiere open and show "EDI from Premiere Pro" in the Input source field at the top.

  3. Adjust your stream settings. Streaming with EDI gives you additional options not available with NDI, such as customizing your color space in the YUV matrix, or streaming up to 10-bit 4:4:4 pixel format.

  4. Click Start. Your Premiere stream will appear in the room.

  5. To stop streaming, click the red Stop stream button at the top of the main window.
