Evercast rooms can be set to 'open' or 'private,' which affects how participants can access. In this article, we'll break down the differences.
What is an open room?
When an Evercast room is set to 'open,' anyone who has the room URL can enter the room as a guest and have access indefinitely unless the room is deleted or changed to 'private.'
To enter an open Evercast room, either join as a guest with a display name or log in to your Evercast account.
What is a private room?
Private rooms offer an added layer of security. When an Evercast room is set to 'private,' the room owner must individually invite a participant to access the room, and then they must create an Evercast account in order to join. Anyone who has been invited to a private Evercast room can freely access the room any time until they are disinvited by the room owner or the room is deleted.
To enter a private Evercast room, log into your Evercast account and click 'Continue.' If you have been invited to the room or you are the room owner, you should be able to join.
How to make a room open or private
Only the Evercast room owner can change the status of a room. To change the status of a room, follow these steps.
1. Log into your account to access your dashboard.
2. From the dashboard, find the room you'd like to change and click on the button with three vertical dots inside the panel. From the dropdown, select 'Room Settings.'

Note: If you are changing a room from 'open' to 'private,' you will need to individually invite participants to access (see how to invite participants here). Anyone who was able to access the room when it was 'open' will no longer be able to access it through the URL alone.
If you are changing a room from 'private' to 'open,' anyone who has the URL will be able to access the room.
