Welcome to Evercast! Here are a few tips on how to achieve the best experience on Evercast.
1) Use the Chrome browser
Currently, only Chrome is supported by Evercast. If you have Chrome, visit this page to ensure your Chrome is up-to-date.
If you need to download and install Chrome, click here.
2) Your internet connection
A good internet connection is the most important factor when it comes to low latency live streaming. It is perfectly fine to use a WiFi connection when attending a live Evercast session.
However, if you experience any stream quality issues, we recommend hard-wiring your computer to the internet (if possible).
NOTE FOR MAC USERS: If you do hard-wire your computer and are using a Mac, turn off your WiFi through the WiFi settings.
3) The control bar
If you move your mouse to the bottom of the screen, the control bar will appear, containing several icons.
Disable Microphone - If this icon is clicked (turns red), your mic will be muted so no one can hear you.
Disable Camera - If this icon is clicked (turns red), your webcam video will be disabled so no one can see you.
Disable Audio Output - If this icon is clicked (turns red) it will mute all participant and stream audio in the room.
Enable Screenshare - This is a basic browser screenshare ideal for sharing documents and photos. You will need to install the Evercast Chrome extension to use this feature. When you click the icon, you will be given instructions.
Enable External Device Share - This feature is being removed from the platform. You can ignore this icon.
EBS Settings - This settings page is only required if you plan on streaming from your computer. If you are just participating, you can ignore this icon.
Device Settings - Use this icon if you need to select a different webcam, microphone, or speaker output.
Draw Mode - Clicking this icon will enable Draw Mode so you can mark up the screen for participants to see. For more information on how to use the Draw tool, please visit the following article.
Enter Fullscreen - Clicking this icon will hide the Chrome interface.
4) Hiding participant thumbnails
If you wish to hide participants so you can have a true full-screen experience, hover your mouse over the thumbnails which will display a bar with three dots above the thumbnails. Click the bar to lower the thumbnails.
To raise the thumbnails, move your mouse to the bottom of the screen and click the same bar.
5) Light/Dark mode
If you would like to change your theme from light to dark, move your mouse to the top of the screen, which will display the header. Click the toggle button to switch between light and dark.
6) Leaving a live session
When you are ready to leave a live session, you may simply close the tab or browser. If you forget to leave a session, your account will automatically logged out after two hours.
7) Changing your password
If you would like to change your password, move your mouse to the top of the screen, which will display the header. Click your avatar icon (top right) and click "Settings."
8) Time-stamped notes
If your session is being recorded (optional), you can take time-stamped notes to quickly access specific moments in the recording. To take notes, move your mouse to the right side of Chrome. This will activate a menu bar with three dots. Click the menu bar to open the Notes drawer.
