Stream audio is not in sync with the video

What to do when your audio/video are out of sync

If participants in a live Evercast session are experiencing audio de-sync, this is caused by two primary issues: Poor internet or CPU issues.

1) Refresh the page

Whoever is experiencing the audio syncing issues, please have them reload the page and 'Go Live' again. You don't need to restart the stream yet

Did this fix your issue?
Yes: If the refresh resolved your issue, we recommend turning down the stream's bitrate if the problem keeps recurring or switch to a hardwired internet connection.

No: If this step doesn't resolve the issue, please move to step 2.

2) Under performing CPU or bad internet on sending side

If the Chrome refresh doesn't help, most likely the CPU on the computer that is sending the stream is being overworked and isn't able to encode the video quick enough or the sending side internet connection is dropping packets. There are several things you can do to address an overworked CPU or a poor internet connection on the sending side.

A) Close Chrome on streaming computer
If you are streaming and conferencing on the same computer, close Chrome and ask the participants to refresh their Evercast page in Chrome and 'Go Live' again. Call the participant on the phone and check to see if the sync is any better.

B) Lower the EBS FPS
In EBS, go to settings then click the Video tab on the left side of the Settings page. If you are streaming at 60 fps, change it to 30 fps. Save the settings, close EBS and reopen, start the stream again, and ask the participants to refresh their Evercast page in Chrome.

C) Change the stream bitrate
In EBS, go to settings then click the Output tab on the left side of the Settings page. Lower your video bitrate to 2500 (this is 2.5 mbps) or lower. We recommend not going lower than 1500 (1.5mbps) but you can go as low as 800 (.8mbps) using the VP9 codec.

Save the settings, start the stream again, and ask the participants to refresh their Evercast page in Chrome.

D) Lower the resolution
In EBS, go to settings then click the Video tab on the left side of the Settings page. If you are streaming in 1080, change the resolution to 720 (or lower). Save the settings, start the stream again, and ask the participants to refresh their Evercast page in Chrome.

E) Audio offset

If the desync is consistent and doesn't increase or decrease when you stop and start the steram, you can offset for the desync in Audio Settings in EBS. Click here to read that article.
